I got fired from my school after only two weeks. It was a public school in Gangnam- and head of English and I couldn't stand each other and she told lies about me to get me fired.
Anyway... I am really confused about the visa transfer. Immigration has told me several different things. I definitely want to stay in Korea, and I think I'd jump off a bridge if I had to go through the E2 process all over again, since I got my E2 only a month ago.
My school will cancel my visa on Friday, March 27th. I have been told I have a week, two weeks, a month... after that time to find a visa. Do you know how much time it is, exactly? And what do I need? I was told a letter of release from my old school and a contract or letter of acceptence from my new school. And if I do it within the two week/month/whatever window, I will not have to leave the country but can do it at Seoul immigration.
Then I was told I can only do it at Seoul immigration if I am transferring to a public school. If it is a private school, I have to go through the E2 process all over again (minus the criminal background check, I think they said). I don't mind going to Japan, but I would be crushed if I had to go all the back to America to do this again.
Then I was told I have to apply for the transfer before my visa is canceled. So how does one apply for it?
Also, do I need an actual letter of release from my old school, or is the canceling of the visa the letter of release?
I am so confused (can't you tell?) and would REALLY appreciate a definite answer on this. Thanks! |

Tom,
we spoke on the phone yesterday.
I gave you all the information I was certain of.
Everything relies on your current employer.
Getting the letter of release, getting the visa cancelled.
It also depends on the reasons why you were fired. If it was just a personality clash, there should not be a problem.
If it was medical or criminal, there will be a problem. '
For example, if you were found out to have lied on your application about criminal or medical issues, you run the chance of being blacklisted at immigration.
